Important December dates at HVTC

Our final makeup day of 2013 will be Monday, December 16, 4:30-6 pm. Please register at the desk to make up any Session I or II absence. Session III begins Monday, January 6; please sign up immediately. Those in previous sessions are not automatically registered for future sessions.

The annual Junior Awards Banquet is Wednesday, December 18, with free tennis 5–6 pm and a potluck dinner at 6. Junior members 8th grade and below and their parents are invited. Call the front desk to sign up and to put your potluck dish on the list.

The Junior Singles Club Championships will be held Friday, December 20, through Tuesday, December 24. This is a nonsanctioned singles tournament for HVTC members. The entry fee is $29 and includes court time and balls. Please sign up at the desk and inform the desk staff of your availability by Wednesday, December 18.

HVTC, in partnership with the USTA, is providing 10 & under tennis tournaments. The next will be Sunday, December 22, 1–4:30 pm. (Registration is online at http://tennislink.usta.com/tournaments – tournament ID is 850112913. Please

JUNIOR DOUBLES TOURNAMENT TAKES PLACE THANKSGIVING WEEK

The annual Junior Doubles Club Championship is a nonsanctioned doubles tournament for HVTC junior members. Events include Boys and Girls 16–18 and 12–14 divisions. Trophies will be awarded to finalists in events with six or more teams. Players must be available for weekend play. Ask the staff if you need help finding a partner.

  • The entry deadline is Tuesday, November 26
  • Fee is $16 per player

HVTC MEMBER FINISHES 2ND AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Our very own Mats Ljungman traveled to Savannah, Georgia, to play in the USTA National 55 Men’s Clay Court Championships. He played six singles matches. In the first three matches he allowed only three games to his opponents. The last three matches were amazing three-set battles. He lost in the final to Wesley Cash, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Congratulations, Mats!

HALLOWEEN PARTY DRAWS A CROWD FOR SPOOKTACULAR FUN

More than 60 junior players joined our pros and had a great time at the Halloween edition of the monthly pizza party. The Huron Valley Hayseeds performed, and delectable cupcakes were supplied by Ronda. Costume contest winners were:

4th grade and below
